The most common form of skin cancer found in humans is Basal cell carcinoma, but it accounts for less than 0.1% of patient deaths due to cancer. Basal cell skin cancer tumors typically appear on sun-exposed skin, are slow growing, and rarely metastasize (0.028-0.55%). Basal cell carcinoma usually appears as a firm, flat, pale area that is small, raised, red or pink, shiny translucent, and waxy, and the area may bleed following minor injury. Tumor size can vary from a few millimeters to several centimeters in diameter.
